I film weddings the way I’d want my own remembered. Quietly, honestly, and built to last.
I’m Liam Roadley, the filmmaker behind Vela Films.
I’m based in South-East Queensland and capture weddings across the Gold Coast, hinterland, Tamborine Mountain, the Tweed, and Northern Rivers.
For me, wedding films are about more than just documenting what happens. They’re about preserving the feeling of the day. The quiet moments, the people you love, and the emotions you never want to forget.
I work closely with every couple to create something that feels true to who they are. Staying present while remaining unobtrusive, I focus on capturing the moments naturally as they unfold so your story can be remembered exactly as it felt.
Why weddings
A wedding is one of the few days a family gathers on purpose. People are themselves. They laugh too loud, they cry at the wrong moments, they hold each other a little longer than usual.
That’s what I want to keep. Not a performance of the day. The day itself.
From the edges
On the day, you’ll mostly forget I’m there. That’s the point.
I keep to the edges. I move slowly and read the day rather than steer it. When something real is happening – a father steadying his voice, a grandmother quietly proud at the back – I’m already there.
No scripts. No posing. No interruption.
The craft, kept quiet
The craft is real. It just stays underneath. I grade naturally and warmly. I cut for feeling, not for pace.
A wedding film should age well. I build each one to hold up in twenty years, not just on the day it’s shared.
What you receive
A finished wedding film, edited as a story rather than a highlight reel. A beginning, a middle and an end. The shape of the day, kept whole.
If you’d like one, a shorter cut to share as well. The full film is the heirloom. The short one is for the people who couldn’t be there.
