The filmmaker
About Liam
I film weddings the way I’d want my own remembered. Quietly, honestly, and built to last.

I’m Liam Roadley, the observational wedding filmmaker behind Vela Films. I’m based on the bay in South-East Queensland and I film across the Gold Coast and its hinterland, Tamborine Mountain, the Tweed and the Northern Rivers.
I work alone, by choice. One filmmaker, present all day, gives a wedding a single steady eye. It also keeps me out of the way.
Why weddings
A wedding is one of the few days a family gathers on purpose. People are themselves. They laugh too loud, they cry at the wrong moments, they hold each other a little longer than usual.
That’s what I want to keep. Not a performance of the day. The day itself.
How the day goes
I’ve written down what a wedding day looks like with me in it.
Tell me about the day you’re planning.
I take on a small number of weddings each year. If the way I work feels right to you, I’d love to hear about yours.
