Travel
We're based on the bay and film across the Gold Coast and its hinterland, Tamborine Mountain, the Tweed and the Northern Rivers with no travel cost. Weddings further afield are welcome too – just tell us where.
Common questions
How do I secure my date, and what deposit do you take?
To secure your wedding date, simply enquire through the website and we'll be in touch to discuss your plans and answer any questions. Once you're ready to book, a signed agreement and a 50 per cent booking fee will secure your date, with the remaining balance due closer to your wedding day.
How far ahead do couples usually book you?
Most couples book around 6–12 months before their wedding. If your date is sooner, feel free to get in touch – if we are available, we'd love to be part of your day.
Can a package be tailored to my day?
Absolutely. Every wedding is different, so if our existing packages aren't quite the right fit, we'd be happy to tailor a package to suit your day.
What happens on the day – how do you work, and will we notice you?
We take a balance of a guided and documentary approach, helping create beautiful moments while also capturing the genuine emotions as they naturally happen. During key parts of the day we'll provide direction when needed, while allowing moments like the ceremony and celebrations to unfold naturally.
Do you need a meal, and how long do you stay?
All packages include full-day coverage, and a meal is appreciated so we can stay energised and continue capturing your wedding day at our best. We'll be there to document the important moments from start to finish.
What happens if it rains?
Rain won't stop your story from being captured. We'll work with you and your venue to adapt the plans and create beautiful moments, no matter the weather.
How and when do we receive the film and the photographs?
Your wedding film and photographs will be delivered through an online gallery, making it easy to view, download, and share with your loved ones. Delivery times vary depending on your package, with most collections completed within the timeframe discussed when booking.
Do we get the raw footage or the unedited photos?
Raw footage and unedited photos are not included, as the final film and gallery are carefully curated and edited to reflect the Vela Films style. If you would like to discuss additional options, feel free to reach out.
Can we choose the music?
Music plays a big part in creating the feeling of your film. We'll work with you to understand your style and preferences, then carefully select music that complements your story and the emotion of your day.
What happens if you are sick or cannot make it?
In the unlikely event that we are unable to attend, we have a network of trusted filmmakers we can call on to ensure your wedding day is still captured. Your story will always be treated with the same care and professionalism.
